1) Relate film to class discussion
Casablanca is #3 of the top 100 films of all time. It is set during World War II in the early 40's. Casablanca is where refuges would go to get to Lisbon and eventually get to the United States. The two main characters were Rick and Ilsa. As Ilsa comes to Casablanca she runs into Rick with whom she recently had an affair with and left him in Paris. The film was released during the War and gave the audience a sense of realism. It was not expected to be as big of a film as it came too be during production

The article discusses how the film's production process went. The script went through numerous changes and the final ending was not even decided on until halfway through filming. The original title was called 'Everyone Come to Rick's'. It states the film had the perfect balance of comedy and drama but was lacking in the romance department so they went and added more romance to the script. While filming no one ever took it too serious, it was just another movie no one thought it would turn out to be the pop culture success it became.
3)Relate article to film
In the film we do see the official ending of Rick letting Ilsa leave with her husband. We also see the perfect mix of drama, romance, and comedy. Many famous quotes helped make the film into a pop culture success. Such lines as "We'll always have Paris" and "Heres to you Kid."
4) Critical Analysis of film
It took me a while to get into the film. It seemed long but short at the same time because not much really happened throughout the duration of the film. It was good overall, and had the perfect mix of everything. The actors did a phenomenal job with their roles and the whole cast was chosen right. I did feel the film dragged a lot in the middle where I think not much happened. I have heard the famous quotes before and now I can connect them to the film after seeing it.
